Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect for much of the area — widespread snow is tapering off Wednesday morning, but roads are slick and there will be squalls of lake effect snow throughout the day, leading to more accumulation on the lakefront.

Snow emergencies
Multiple Northeast Ohio counties have issued a snow emergency. Click here to find out if your county is under one.
The following counties are under a Winter Weather Advisory, effective Monday at 4 p.m. through Wednesday at 10 a.m.:
Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula
Latest Forecast
Lake Effect snow continues especially in the snowbelt for this evening and the early part of tonight before it starts to taper off. For spots where the clouds clear tonight temperatures are going to drop down into the teens. Drive safe and stay warm.
FORECAST HEADLINES:
- A few lingering squalls along the lakeshore east of Cleveland this morning
- Overnight lows by sunrise will set records in many spots
- Staying cold into the weekend

Wednesday: Early Lake Effect East. Partly Sunny and Cold. | High: 30º | Wind: W/S 3-8 mph
Thursday: Mostly cloudy, a shower is possible. | High: 40º | Wind: W 5-10 mph

Road Conditions
The roads were a mess Tuesday due to whiteout conditions and likely other weather-related problems.
Among the worst incidents were an 85-car pileup on State Route 8 in Summit County, a fatal crash on the Ohio Turnpike in Richfield,and a 50-car pile up near Youngstown.

Tuesday
Lake effect snow may still be heavy at times, which will continue into Wednesday morning.
Roads will be slick during the morning and evening commutes. Drivers should allow extra time.
Wednesday
Heavy lake effect snow squalls shutting down early Wednesday. Temperatures top off at 30 degrees on Wednesday.

Temperatures
Temps will drop to the teens by Wednesday, with wind gusts at 25 mph, especially in areas closer to Lake Erie.
Speed limits
