CLEVELAND — A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for much of the viewing area with mixed precipitation and snow accumulation that could cause hazardous travel conditions until early Saturday morning in some areas.
The advisory for Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula counties is in effect from 7 p.m. Thursday evening until 4 a.m. Saturday. Mixed precipitation and total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches are expected, along with a light glaze of ice, according to the National Weather Service.
The NWS states that travel could be very difficult, with hazardous conditions that could impact the Friday morning and evening commutes.
The NWS advises drivers should slow down and use caution while traveling.
The Winter Weather Advisory issued for other parts of North Central and Northeast Ohio, including Ashland, Erie, Holmes, Huron, Lorain, Medina, Richland, Stark, Summit and Wayne counties is in effect from 7 p.m. Thursday until 4 p.m. Friday.
In these areas, mixed precipitation and total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are expected, with lesser amounts south of US 30 in Ohio, according to the NWS. Ice accumulations of a light glaze are also expected.
Drivers should plan on slippery roads that could impact the morning commute.
There is also a Winter Weather Advisory for similar conditions in Tuscarawas County from 12 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.
